The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Los Alamos National Laboratory serve as the laboratories for a United States interagency program known as the Bulk Special Nuclear Materials Analysis Program (BSAP). The partners are the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy / National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy / Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Each of these governmental agencies have an interest in the assurance of precise and accurate analyses of nuclear material and recognize the unique information that forensic material signatures can provide.
